The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is the regulatory body responsible for ensuring food safety and hygiene across the country. Any business involved in the manufacturing, processing, storage, distribution, or sale of food products must obtain an FSSAI license. However, this license is not permanent and must be renewed periodically.

FSSAI renewal is essential to maintain the legal status of a food business. It helps ensure ongoing compliance with the food safety norms laid out under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The license is typically valid for 1 to 5 years, depending on the applicant’s preference and fee paid. Renewal should be initiated at least 30 days before the license expiry to avoid penalties or suspension.

Failure to renew an FSSAI license on time may lead to a fine of ₹100 per day and potential closure of the business. The renewal process involves submitting Form C, required documents such as identity proof, food safety management plan, and the latest inspection reports, either online via the FoSCoS portal or through offline methods.
